Academic Integrity: A Guide for Students

Purdue University values intellectual integrity and the highest standards of academic conduct. To be prepared to meet societal needs as leaders and role models, students must be educated in an ethical learning environment that promotes a high standard of honor in scholastic work. Academic dishonesty undermines institutional integrity and threatens the academic fabric of Purdue University. Dishonesty is not an acceptable avenue to success. It diminishes the quality of a Purdue education, which is valued because of Purdue's high academic standards.

Disability Resource Center

The purpose of Purdue University's Disability Resource Center (DRC) is to act as a facilitator of services for qualified students with disabilities as they pursue their higher education goals.

Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) – Software Remote

Software Remote (formerly DACS) provides free access to software from any computer with an internet connection and a web browser. Many software programs are available, including Adobe/Macromedia products, SAS, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD. The software programs appear to run on your desktop, but are actually running on the Software Remote servers. Keyboard strokes, mouse clicks, and screen updates are transmitted between your computer and the server. Because of this technology, these software programs can even be used with a dial-up Internet connection.

Library

Online students have access to the Purdue University libraries system. Nearly 50% of the library volumes are available electronically. You may want to start by visiting the tutorials to learn how to make the libraries work best for your needs.

Purdue Online Writing Lab

Offers various free services including one-on-one tutorials, business writing consultation, writing, grammar, and research assistance, and ESL conversation groups.

Office of the Dean of Students

Deal with issues of dishonesty and plagiarism.

Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities

The OSRR office is a multipurpose service focusing on student rights and standards, and support of individuals rights.

Online Writing Lab

Purdue's writing lab is an exceptional resource for Purdue students. Services include workshops, handouts to help students of all skill levels with their writing abilities, software to assist students for whom English is a second language, an online writing lab with a variety of self-help resources, and tutors who respond to specific e-mail queries.

Student Code of Conduct

Students are expected and required to abide by the laws of the state of Indiana and of the United States and the rules and regulations of Purdue University, to conduct themselves in accordance with accepted standards of social behavior, to respect the rights of others, and to refrain from any conduct that tends to obstruct the work of the University or to be injurious to the welfare of the University. A student who violates these general standards of conduct may be subject to informal actions and/or disciplinary sanctions.

Student Regulations and Procedures

Student Regulations provides information for all Purdue students on the structure, policy, regulations, and procedures of the University that govern their relationship to the University in both academic and personal progress toward their ultimate educational goals. It is designed as a reference, with direct quotations from the University Code where applicable, covering the basic areas relating to all students on the campus.

Veteran's Success Center

Purdue provides specialized support for veterans, military students, and benefit-eligible family members. To understand and apply for your educational benefits, contact a Veterans Certifying Official. You can receive assistance in the event of a call to active duty through our Department of Veterans Affairs.
