Human Resource Development (HRD) is an interdisciplinary field developed on the foundations of psychology, sociology, economics, organizational science, management, education, and technology. It aims to develop human capital and enhance employee performance.

Depending on the academic credentials and professional background, HR professionals, trainers, organization development consultants, program evaluators, organizational managers and leaders, instructional designers, researchers, and policy-makers can apply to the program.

The HRD Focus in MS in Technology Leadership & Innovation degree program prepares individuals from a variety of backgrounds both nationally and internationally who are interested in becoming an HRD professional or advancing their current knowledge, skills, and abilities with a greater emphasis through technology. The degree program includes coursework on the foundations of HRD, developing skills in advance HRD practices, and exploring related topics of interest from elective courses across Purdue campus. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, the program is affiliated with Purdue HRD Virtual Lab and Purdue Human Analytics Lab.
