The School of Engineering Technology at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, has a full-time opening as a Clinical Assistant Professor beginning August 18, 2014.
The fundamental applications of materials and the production processes used to transform them is a critical area for the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Purdue University in West Lafayette. The College’s thrust in Advanced Manufacturing includes the efficient and novel combination of processes and materials for next-generation products. A clinical faculty member is needed to deliver the foundation materials courses supporting our bachelor’s degree programs in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Faculty candidates are sought to deliver these important course topics to large cohorts of students in a continuously improving educational experience. The Clinical position is contractual non-tenure accruing, but renewable with the position having a faculty status and potential for promotion through established policies. A successful candidate for this clinical position will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level, work collaboratively with other learning innovators, maintain technical competency, develop curricular materials and laboratory experiences, and promote the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology programs through both national and international engagement. Applicants must have at least a M.S. degree in a relevant Engineering, or Engineering Technology or closely related discipline, with a PhD preferred. Industrial experience is critical for this position. Prior teaching experience and professional registration are highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to teach undergraduate courses and the ability or potential to quickly advance their teaching effectiveness.
