Content Marketing Strategist

The Content Marketing Strategist is an integral part of the Purdue Polytechnic Institute’s Office of Marketing and Communications on Purdue University’s main campus in West Lafayette, IN. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and, as a part of a higher education organization, this position will have the opportunity to sharpen existing skills and hone new ones in a fast-paced, result-driven, and supportive environment. Content Strategist serves as the content developer for the Polytechnic office of Marketing and Communications. This position will be responsible for the delivery of creative and compelling content that helps build the Polytechnic brand, increases awareness of academic program offerings, drives engagement, and grows the Polytechnic footprint. This includes the development of long- and short-form content for a variety of internal and external audiences on print and digital platforms: email, website, social media, video, brochures, ads, news releases, news articles, magazines and more. In addition to content development, this position works closely with other team members on the development of other communication projects. 

Required:

  • BA or BS in communications, marketing, journalism, English or related field of study
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in a marketing or communications-related environment
  • Experience curating and adapting content for a variety of communication media
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience                
  • Demonstrated communication skills, with a strong emphasis on writing and editing
  • Ability to balance multiple, competing directions and manage multiple projects successfully with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to meet all deadlines and work independently or on a team
  • Ability to be creative in developing and delivering content
  • Computer & technology skills; possess a learning orientation to changing technology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, and mobile/remote collaboration tools
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, teach, consult and build work relationships among a diverse group at all levels; ability to work alone and with teams

Preferred:

  • Skills in photography a plus
