Manufacturing engineering technology Visiting Assistant Professor - Anderson

The School of Engineering Technology at Purdue University, in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College, invites applications for a full-time appointment as a visiting assistant professor in the area of Manufacturing engineering technology. Applicants are expected to have at least earned an M.S. in engineering technology, engineering, computer science, or related disciplines. This position may become permanent at the end of the initial two years. This position will be at the Anderson location but primarily teaching in Muncie.

Teaching Expectations

The Purdue Polytechnic transformation requires faculty with both high technical competence and the ability and desire to teach in active classrooms. We are looking for candidates to teach both high school and college students in our Manufacturing engineering technology program, with an area of competence in robotics. Candidates must have the ability to adapt this content for students in the mechatronics and robotics majors within the Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MFET) program.

The Anderson-Muncie region has many new companies coming in that need employees with advanced skills in robotics and modern manufacturing. This professor will work with Ivy Tech in Muncie and Polytechnic Anderson to create a pipeline for local place-bound students. The visiting position will enable Ivy Tech and Purdue to solidify their partnership while bringing together the regional agencies and foundations. This person will teach university, dual credit, industry-focused classes, and will develop and implement articulation agreements.

As the MFET programs grow at our statewide locations, there will be an increased demand for these courses, in multiple instructional formats. A new hire will have some expectation for distance education and possible travel/teaching at both Locations: Anderson and Muncie.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least an MS in engineering technology, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline. This position requires the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing for both classroom effectiveness and external engagement. People with the proven ability to contribute to an inclusive workplace are particularly encouraged to apply. Relevant, recent industrial experience and prior teaching experience are highly desirable.
