Tour Guide (student position)

Summer 2017 position (2 positions available)

$8.00 per hour – 5 hour max

The Office of Recruiting, Retention and Diversity does information sessions for prospective students, their friends and families twice a week throughout the school year and the summer.  These information sessions are classroom style presentations that serve as the Polytechnic version of the Purdue Admissions information sessions but are specific to the Polytechnic only.  Following a 30-minute information session the group is taken on a tour of the Polytechnic departments and labs which also includes Technology Leadership and Innovation within Young Hall.  The session and tour are a major recruitment component for the Polytechnic.

The applicant should be comfortable relaying information to groups of all sizes and from all backgrounds, be able to travel throughout the Polytechnic and nearby departments while clearly relaying relevant information and answering questions as they go. Tours last approximately 1.5 hours and are on Monday’s and Friday’s.  If/when a tour guide is not needed, they would be assisting the Office of RRD with varying tasks between the hours of 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm (Monday and Friday).

Interested individuals should complete an application for summer employment with the Office of Recruitment, Retention and Diversity (RRD) in Knoy 150 for consideration.  Interviews will be scheduled early into the spring semester and will be filled on a first come basis.  Priority will go to students in the Polytechnic, students affiliated with the Office of Recruitment, Retention and Diversity (RRD) student organizations, or students that are available throughout the summer and can cross train into more than one position.
