Polytechnic professor elevated to elite senior member status by world’s largest computing society

Bedrich BenesWEST LAFAYETTE, IND., APR. 2, 2019 – Bedrich Benes, professor in the Department of Computer Graphics Technology and Computer Science (by courtesy) has been promoted to senior member status by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). As the world’s largest computing society, ACM connects computing educators, researchers and professionals to inspire dialogue, share resources and address the field's challenges. ACM also supports the professional growth of its members by providing opportunities for life‐long learning, career development and professional networking.

Besides teaching, Benes is the director of High Performance Computer Graphics Laboratory at Purdue and editor-in-chief of Computer Graphics Forum journal. He received his Master of Science and doctorate from Czech Technical University in Prague. His research areas include geometric modeling, procedural modeling, real-time rendering, and high performance computer graphics.
