Purdue EcoMakers wins six awards in first year of EcoCAR 2

The Purdue EcoMakers team received six awards during the the EcoCAR 2 Year One Competition in Los Angeles May 18-23, 2012.

The first year of the three-year competition focused on student plans for their advanced vehicle architectures using modeling and simulation. The competing teams participated in a trade show and delivered numerous presentations to judges during the competition.

Competitions provide unique learning experiences

A second place finish at the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011 was the climax of more than two years of work for the Purdue University team. Yet the educational benefits for the team members and advisors will continue for years to come. The lessons they learned can help similar large-scale student projects such as Purdue’s EcoCAR 2 team. Both teams have strong ties to the College of Technology.
