New Albany location celebrates commencement

Purdue University will celebrate its 2014 commencement ceremony with 43 graduates through the Purdue College of Technology, New Albany, at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 15. The event will take place in the Robinson Theater at Indiana University Southeast.

A high percentage of those graduating with Purdue University degrees have found meaningful employment in the region, according to Andrew Takami who serves as director of Purdue University's College of Technology in New Albany.

In the news: aviation maintenance practicum course

Only five students each semester are accepted into the Aviation Maintenance Practicum course offered by the Department of Aviation Technology.

The class involves Purdue students working on all 26 operating planes at the Purdue University Airport. They practice under the direction of a licensed technician.

The Purdue Exponent featured the class earlier this semester, talking to the course instructor, John Davis; the director of maintenance, Michael Davis; and student Garrett Lemanski.
