This program is designed to be a global opportunity exclusive to Polytechnic incoming freshmen and will focus on two Polytechnic strategic partner university locations: Munich University of Applied Sciences (Munich, Germany) and Czech Technical University (Prague, Czech Republic). 

The program will start in Munich, Germany where the itinerary will be a combination of cultural visits, industry visit tours, open-air intercultural sessions and a college visit to the university.  While at the university, students will meet with their international office, take a campus tour to learn about the facilities and curriculum.  After a week of activities in Munich and Bavaria, we will travel to Prague. 

Prague is a city rich in cultural and technological sites and history.  Students will get the same type of experience at Czech Technical University and be exposed to the idea that Prague is truly an international city with students from all over the world taking cutting edge curriculum in English as a language of instruction.  Intercultural sessions will focus on the Czech people’s unique position in history post World War II, through the Soviet occupation to present day. A day trip to the historic city of Plzen will offer a glimpse of the US liberation of the area during WWII.  

This 3 credit hour course will utilize the Global Competence Certificate (GCC) curriculum as we work toward increasing the intercultural competence of our Polytechnic student participants.  Student will complete course work will utilize the GCC online modules as well as focusing on the benefits of intercultural competence in the tech fields that operate in a global setting.

Monday, July 20th

          Travel to Munich, Germany

Tuesday, July 21st  

          AM: Arrive in Munich

          Hotel: Ibis Hotel Munchen City Arnulfpark, Arnulfstraße 55, 80636 München

          Walk to Marienplatz & lunch in the area on own

          Back to hotel for official hotel check in

          Group Dinner

Wednesday, July 22nd  

          AM: Guided city walking tour 

          PM: BMW Tour

          Group Dinner

Thursday, July 23rd

          Scavenger hunt activities

          Class time in the English Garden

          Group Dinner 

Friday, July 24th

          Tour of Munich University of Applied Sciences

          Group Lunch

          Visit Olympic Park

          Free evening

Saturday, July 25th

          Neuschwanstein Castle trip

          Group lunch

          Return to Munich

Sunday, July 26th

          Travel to Dachau

          Dachau Memorial Site visit 

          Free time (shopping will be closed)

          Dinner (pay on your own)

Monday, July 27th 

          AM: Train to Prague

         Hotel: Ibis Praha Old Town, Na Poříčí 5, 110 00 Praha 1

          Walk to Old Town to see Astronomical Clock

          Group Dinner

Tuesday, July 28th

          Explore Prague day

          PM: Class session

          Group Dinner

Wednesday, July 29th   

          Scavenger Hunt activities throughout city

          Lunch in area (pay for own)

          PM: Jewish Museum guided tour

          Group Dinner

Thursday, July 30th   

          AM: Visit Prague Castle

          PM: Tour Czech Technical University

Friday, July 31st   

          Train to Plzen

          AM: Brewery tour @ Pils Urquell
