What made you decide to choose your specific major?

I chose my major because I am extremely interested in renewable energy and the effects of renewable energy on the atmosphere and environment. My major teaches me how to use technology to improve efficiency and production of renewable energy systems.

What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?

A few of my favorite things in my major are my labs and the real-life problems we are given to solve. I really enjoyed the applied environment that exists within my major.

What has been one of your favorite class projects?

Last semester I was given an engineering challenge where my group had to design and prototype a water system that filtered out microplastics for urban communities. I really enjoyed this project because I learned a lot about design and research to develop an actual solution to a real-world problem.

What other activities are you involved in on campus?

Outside of school, I am part of a fraternity where we work on a lot of philanthropy events to benefit the community. I also have recently joined the Habitat for Humanity group where we go out every Saturday to work on a group build in the community to help develop affordable housing.

What was something unique about one of your summer internships?

I haven’t completed an internship yet; however, I am currently in the process of receiving a Co-Op (which is an internship that you return to) so I am always more than happy to talk about my experience so far.

What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?

While I was choosing my major, I wasn't sure how applicable the work I would be doing in class was to real life work opportunities. I know now that the Polytechnic school extremely prepares their students for career skills in the industry of their choice.

What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?

My advice would be to imagine yourself spending time in the labs and classrooms at Purdue, as well as walking around campus and experiencing college life. If imagining that makes you excited, then Purdue is the right place for you!
