The PLM Certificate Program is a blend of content, interactive exercises and group discussion to maximize understanding of the concepts and ensure a practical, “real world” focus on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). This certificate program focuses on three core areas that are critical for any successful PLM implementation – model-based definition, product configuration, and manufacturing process planning. After completing this program, participants will have a better understanding of these interconnected technologies that enable companies to make better business decisions throughout the lifecycle of a product.
There are three (3) courses in the certificate program. Each has 5 weeks of content. Participants view a recorded lecture, read an article or case study then get together with their peers for weekly discussions led by the instructor. Participants use PLM tools on virtual computers for hands-on exercises to demonstrate concepts the way a lecture cannot. The courses utilize the Siemens PLM suite of tools (NX and Teamcenter) for lab examples of PLM methods. However, the core processes and methods apply to any PLM toolset. As a result, anyone looking to enhance their knowledge of PLM toolsets and process would benefit from these courses. The program was developed in conjunction with The Boeing Company. Now the courses are are available to participants from all companies and industries.
Participants enrolling in this course should observe the following guidelines: Participants need access to high speed, broadband Internet services and a personal computer with up-to-date internet browser, Java and Flash during the class and lab sessions. You need a headset (headphones and a microphone) or a telephone to participate in discussions. The certificate program is intended for professionals outside of a degree program. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded upon completion of each course in the series. The certificate is awarded upon completion of all 3 courses. The courses do not need to be taken in order but it is recommended.
