Information for Recruiters

INHOme

The School of Construction Management Technology (SCMT) offers employers access to top quality construction students.  Whether your needs are full-time, summer interns or alumni.  The school can connect  you with our students to meet your hiring needs through our semi-annual Career Fairs, and by partnering with the Purdue Center for Career Opportunities (CCO). www.cco.purdue.edu

Successful recruiting is a year-round process which includes taking the time to build the important relationships on campus that will pay off in excellent candidates to consider. Remember name recognition is important. CM students need to know who you are.  Successful employers build visibility, presence, and image with students by:

  •  Building a solid summer internship program.  This is one of the best recruitment tools available. By providing students great work experiences they become your ambassadors on campus!
  •  Being present and well represented at SCMT Career Fairs.  Based on the success of our previous career fairs, this has become one of the most popular ways to recruit our students.  In addition interviewing students that are graduating, the career fair is also an excellent opportunity to contact students who are looking for summer intern positions.
  •  Partner with us by becoming a member of our Construction Advisory Council. The purpose of the Construction Advisory Council is to support and promote the Construction Management Program, provide industry networking for our members and advise our Faculty and Staff on industry trends and new requirements.
  •  Using the Center for Career Opportunities electronic job posting system to post open positions to our student and using the CCO’s facilities to interview our students on campus.  If your company would like to recruit SCMT students and other majors outside of SCMT you may do so by contacting the Center for Career Opportunities.

During their campus career, students have opportunities to obtain internships (during the summer) and co-ops (during a semester) positions with a variety of construction companies. Upon graduation, students are interviewed and hired for great positions all over the US and the world. Companies are able to interview our students on campus at the CCO. On an average, 150 companies interview here each semester (and many return to interview the next semester, also). The placement atmosphere of the CCO in collaboration with the school is friendly and helpful for both the students and the employers.
