Project Team

This project builds research and education capacity through the formation of a multidisciplinary team encompassing expertise in cyber security, artificial intelligence (AI), and statistics.

Dr. Jin Wei-Kocsis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer & Information Technology at Purdue University-West Lafayette. Her research interests include AI especially deep learning, cybersecurity and privacy, and cybersecurity education. Her research achievements have also been recognized through the receipt of NASA Early CAREER Faculty Grant, NSF EAGER Award, Homeland Security National Training Program/Continuing Training Grant, Transportation Research Board Grants, and DOE/SuNLaMP Award.

Dr. Baijian "Justin" Yang has a diverse skill set in computing. He was the lead author of two books on Windows Phone Programming and holds a number of industry certifications such as CISSP, MCSE, and Six Sigma Black Belt. Dr. Yang was a board member of the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) from 2014-2016. He was a member of IEEE Cybersecurity Initiative Steering Committee and the project lead of IEEE Try-CybSI from 2015 to 2017. He is currently serving as a Senior Faculty Fellow of Purdue Polytechnic Research Impact Areas and he is a University Faculty Scholar at Purdue University.

Dr. Tonglin Zhang is Associate Professor of Statistics, Purdue University. His research interests are (1) machine learning and artificial intelligence, (2) big data, (3) spatial statistics, (4) mathematical statistics, (5) high-dimensional data, and (6) variable selection. His research covers both theories and applications. He has published over 70 research articles in decent journals and reputational conferences of statistics and computer science. His role in the project is the development of AI/ML theories and computational methods for Cybersecurity Education models to help students with diverse backgrounds of the learners. He has extensive research and teaching experiences in developing collaborative and explainable AI.

Mr. Moein Sabounchi received the BSc degree in electrical engineering from the Razi University of Kermanshah, in 2011, and the MSc degree in electrical engineering from the Ferdowsi university of Mashhad in 2014. Currently he is a PhD candidate at the Computer and Information Technology department at Purdue University. His research interests include applied AI, cybersecurity, smart energy systems, and intelligent control.

Mr. Huyunting Huang is a PhD student in Statistics. His research interests include AI, big data, dimension reduction and tensor decomposition.
