What factors led you to pursue a career in IT?
I enjoy problem solving and learning new things. The IT industry is perfect for these two things. Many business problems require an IT solution. In addition, the IT solutions are constantly evolving and require continuous learning.
Did you participate in internships?
I participated in internships with three different companies, Cerner (Software Engineer), Continental Airlines (IT Project Manager), and ExxonMobil (Data Analyst). All of these internships were great experiences to apply and learn new skills and gain exposure to the professional working environment.
Did you participate in Study Abroad?
I participated in a two week study abroad at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. This was a great experience to learn about international business and another culture.
What advice would you give to current or prospective CIT students?
Don’t forget your end goal of obtaining a job. The CIT program will provide you with the right skills to be immediately valuable after graduation. Employers know this and that is why some of the top companies recruit at Purdue. I strongly encourage current students to participate in multiple internships and a study abroad. These experiences will help solidify your skills and make you very attractive to employers. Good luck and have fun!
