Knowledge Retention/Training

This project is sponsored by:

The primary objective of Project 13 'Knowledge Retention' is multifaceted: firstly, addressing the imminent challenge of safeguarding technical expertise as experienced employees approach retirement age, and secondly, exploring innovative methods to impart this knowledge effectively to newer, less experienced technicians. In response to these challenges, our project incorporates a groundbreaking approach by integrating a sophisticated chatbot powered by ChatGPT, directly connected to Vuzix glasses. This integration provides real-time answers to technical questions directly in the user's field of view, significantly enhancing learning and operational efficiency for technicians. The application of augmented reality in training is designed to simulate real-world tasks, allowing for an immersive learning environment that is both engaging and effective. Furthermore, the project's scope includes hands-on training with a variety of 3D printers located in the Senior Design Lab, such as the Prusa Original i3 Mk3, Anycubic Kobra Neo, and Sovol SV04. These printers represent a critical component of our training module, offering technicians the opportunity to apply learned skills in a controlled, measurable way. By focusing on these specific printers, the project leverages cutting-edge technology to deliver hands-on, immersive learning experiences. This not only facilitates a seamless transfer of critical skills but also adapts to the individual learning curves of new technicians, ensuring that knowledge is preserved and accessible within the organization.
