RetractaBLE-Lock

The purpose of this project was to develop a Bluetooth controlled bike lock that can be locked and unlocked by anyone who has been granted access by the owner. While there are many current bike sharing services in cities across the US and throughout the world, they all suffer from one critical drawback: they must be locked in a certain zone or at a specified docking station. This can make it challenging to find an available docking station near the user’s desired destination. This project intends to overcome that challenge by allowing the user to lock a bike to any available bike rack or other suitable location. The expectation is that a user will be able to unlock the bicycle from a bike rack wirelessly, retract the cable into the lock housing, and re-secure the bicycle to a bike rack after arriving at their destination.
