Our solution functions as a backpack-like device that will be mounted between the shoulder blades of an alpaca. It is a multi-facted device that includes a microcontroller that can transmit accelerometer, temperature, and humidity data via LoRa. As well as a separate microcontroller that transmits GPS data via a Wi-Fi connection.  The microcontrollers are stored in a single enclosure that also houses a rechargeable battery pack and a solar booster board that are both being trickle-charged by a solar panel attached to the lid of our enclosure. The enclosure is made of ABS plastic, and has been sealed by a rubber gasket or RTV silicone sealant to ensure weatherproofing.

The objective of our project was to design a lightweight, durable, and self-sustaining tracking device capable of sending data wirelessly while operating in the high-altitude regions of southern Peru.
