Professor of Practice - Electrical Engineering Technology

The School of Engineering Technology at Purdue University invites applications for a full-time appointment at either the Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice level in the area of electrical engineering technology. The Professor of Practice position is contractual non-tenure accruing, but renewable, with the position holder having voting faculty status and potential for promotion through established policies. This position will be at the Columbus, Indiana campus.

Teaching Expectations

The School of Engineering Technology resides in Purdue’s Polytechnic Institute (PPI). The PPI uses innovative learning methods, real-world experiences, and industry partnerships to produce graduates uniquely qualified for technology-driven careers. This position requires faculty with both high technical competence and the ability and desire to teach in active classrooms. We are looking for a candidate to teach students in our Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) and related Engineering Technology degree programs. Electrical engineering technology is an important part of our five engineering technology programs, with applications in mechatronics, robotics, smart manufacturing, and advanced electrical systems. This position will require the use of modern distance education technologies to reach multiple locations concurrently.

In addition to teaching, the candidate will be expected to aid in curriculum development for the EET program. The candidate may also participate in our graduate program, teaching new and existing graduate classes. Relevant, recent industrial experience and prior teaching experience are highly desirable. The program is ETAC of ABET accredited and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to quality improvement practices that support continued accreditation requirements.

The candidate is expected to interface with external clients to establish relationships with companies that will engage our students at some level. This engagement may develop into mentoring senior capstone teams as well as undergraduate research.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a minimum of an M.S. in electrical engineering technology, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
