Advanced manufacturing program helps long-term unemployed

A new training program run by the Region 4 Workforce Board and Purdue Polytechnic Institute Lafayette, in collaboration with local manufacturers, is designed to prepare people who’ve been out of work for months for stable, assembly line positions.

The program, called Rapid Reemployment for Advanced Manufacturing Positions (RAMP), is funded by a $7.6 million, four-year grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

The Lafayette Journal and Courier covered the second session of the training this week.

The next RAMP class will begin in September. Orientation sessions are scheduled for Sept. 8, 9 and 11. To learn more or register for an orientation session, contact Jen Edwards at 765-446-2501 or jedwards@tap.lafayette.in.us.

The grant and program were announced in November 2014.
