Introducing ProSTAR's Rubi Ortiz

Rubi Ortiz joined the ProSTAR staff in March as a secretary.

Rubi OrtizBackground

Ortiz, 23 years old, graduated from Purdue University in 2014 with a major in general communications and a minor in Spanish. Originally from Los Angeles, California, she has lived half her life in California and half of life in Lafayette. Since graduating, she has spent her time traveling and interning abroad. Ortiz would like to pursue a master’s degree at Purdue but has not decided what field to pursue yet. She enjoys listening to podcasts and trying different foods, including her favorites: Vietnamese pho, Mexican-Korean fusions, and gumbo.

Why ProSTAR?

I really wanted to be in an office environment after college and after interning abroad to get a sense of what working in a professional atmosphere would be like. ProSTAR is a great program to work for because the staff members are incredibly dedicated and are a great group of people to be around both professionally and personally. I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a collective of professionals who not only work so well together but also genuinely have the student’s interests at heart.

What stands out the most so far

Graduation Sunday! There is something to be said for these hard-working professionals who not only were able to accomplish this amazing feat of obtaining a master’s degree, but also have a developed career and a family. It is so admirable. I was busy snapping photos, and everyone seemed genuinely happy to commemorate the event. It was great! I loved being a part of that.
