Purdue Polytechnic and Adani Institute of Infrastructure plan collaboration

Purdue University and the Adani Institute of Infrastructure plan to work together to foster international cooperation in education and research.

Adani Institute of InfrastructureThe Adani Institute of Infrastructure, a business school in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, and its two divisions, the Adani Institute of Infrastructure Engineering and the Adani Institute of Infrastructure Management, signed a letter of intent to collaborate with the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, one of Purdue’s 10 academic colleges and schools.

The letter describes creating a framework for Purdue and Adani to:

  • Exchange materials in education and research, publications, and academic information.
  • Exchange faculty, research scholars, and students.
  • Conduct joint research and meetings for education and research.

“When we first started meeting with the Adani Group last fall, we quickly realized our two programs have synergies in many areas,” said Robert Cox, senior associate dean for globalization.

Cox identified the possibility of working together on student-centered instructional methods, curriculum development, instructional mentoring, and professional development. Adani, he says, hopes to collaborate with faculty in the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology, the School of Construction Management Technology, the School of Engineering Technology, and the Department of Technology Leadership and Innovation.

Collaboration projects related to industrial engineering technology, supply chain management, Lean Six Sigma, engineering/technology teacher education, construction management, power plant safety, infrastructure project management, solar farms, electrical engineering, power distribution, and unmanned aerial systems are all being considered. Adani and Purdue Polytechnic may define additional collaboration projects, Cox said.

Pankaj Singh, head of services of Adani Institute of Infrastructure and vice president of learning and development for the Adani Group, Cox, and other Adani representatives will be working this summer to further define the partnership. Curriculum mapping for programs in Construction Management Technology, Engineering Technology, and Technology Learning and Innovation is underway. A study abroad opportunity to Adani is being planned for December.

The joint activities are set to be completed by 2022, and Adani and Purdue have the option of extending the relationship beyond its initial five years.
