South Bend location highlights manufacturing, innovation in October

Purdue Polytechnic South Bend will help students explore innovation in manufacturing and technology during two events in October.

Manufacturing Day

Purdue Polytechnic South Bend will participate in Manufacturing Day Oct. 2 and 3 as part of SB150’s Discover. . . Manufacturing initiative.

Purdue Polytechnic will hose a private tour for students Friday, Oct. 2.

On Oct. 3, Purdue Polytechnic South Bend is one of six stop son the manufacturing open house. The location, at 1733 Southside Blvd., will be open to the public 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Technology Conference

The following week, on Oct. 9, the location will host the 7th Annual Engineering Technology Conference (TETC). The theme of year conference is Communication Engineering.

Students will learn about and analyze how a company producing a smart phone works to remain competitive in this era of rapidly changing technologies. They will discuss new technologies that are likely to influence product performance and design and performance features important to customers. They will also investigate electrical and mechanical aspects of performance, and consider how to plan for innovation.

Students will act as consultants to develop a proposal for the company’s engineering and innovation efforts and present their proposal to a mock board of directors.

The conference runs 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Purdue Technology Building on IU South Bend’s campus.
