The multi-billion dollar Trimble Inc. joined its new partners at Purdue Polytechnic for the launch of the Trimble Technology Lab, which has proven to be productive both for new research and student work right from the start. Purdue Polytechnic's computer graphics technology department has climbed the ranks of both Animation Career Review and the Princeton Review for 2024. Students and faculty leaders say this is due to adoption of new technology, innovative teaching, and frequent mentorship and encouragement.

For the 2023-24 academic year, 108 research projects were either initiated or received continuing funding within Purdue Polytechnic, altogether totaling over $16 million. Research grants represent a wide range of Purdue Polytechnic, including faculty across all academic departments as well as contributions from many graduate students listed as co-authors on many projects.

Congratulations to Allison Boyd, an aeronautical engineering technology student who just became a 2024 Truman Scholar. Boyd joins a list of worldwide leaders who have been recipients, including Supreme Court justices, policy experts and public service heroes. 

Dominic Kao from the Department of Computer and Information Technology recently received early-career funding from the National Science Foundation to conduct a five-year study on stereotyping and bias related to users of digital learning tools.

Purdue Polytechnic recently hosted a dedication for its new smart manufacturing labs, designed to prepare students for the factory of the future. Engineering technology faculty have already begun shaping new curricula around these state-of-the-art facilities.

On November 1, Purdue honored Polytechnic professors Jin Wei-Kocsis, Nathan Mentzer, Alejandra Magana, Vetria Byrd, Joseph Hupy and Baijian “Justin” Yang with Seed for Success Acorn Awards. The award recognizes Purdue researchers who have obtained their first grant of $1 million or more in funding.

Purdue Polytechnic's CREATE lab has partnered with Flexjet, Inc. to create AeroSphere—an aviation facility providing students with a world-class education in aircraft maintenance and upkeep.

The National Science Foundation has just issued its first-ever grant to Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Aviation and Transportation Technology, funding the school’s large-scale AI and mixed-reality research project. Included are over a dozen industry partners and higher ed institutions.
