Technology students examine 'Deflate Gate'

Is it possible for weather conditions to cause NFL footballs to lose enough pressure to fall below the required regulations?

Students at Purdue's College of Technology at Columbus conducted their own academic research on the topic at the metrology lab in the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence.

Their conclusion? It is possible. The entire process is detailed in their paper, titled "Deflate Gate Examined" (Microsoft Word document).

The metrology lab is environmentally-controlled with a temperature of 20 degrees C plus or minus 0.5 degree and humidity less than 35%. These conditions are maintained 24/7.

The project was conducted by students, and the final paper was written by student Steve Driscoll.
