Machining/Fabrication Lab

The Machining/Fabrication Lab provides instruction and research activities supporting manual machine and G-Code Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) machines to produce parts in a simulated industrial setting.

Educational Application

The lab houses a variety of different equipment and tools, that exposes students to what they will see once they enter industry, including: Haas 3 and 5 axis mills; manual 1940’s era lathes; drill presses; surface grinders; and various hand tools. Upon graduation, students should have a basic concept of subtractive manufacturing processes, how to use measuring instruments, how to write and run G-Code for CNC machines, and how cut down on cycle/manufacturing time.

The laboratory serves:

  • MET 144
  • MET 245
  • ENGT 480/481 (ET Capstone I/II)
