The Electronic Door Closer Adjustment System - Team 06

This project is sponsored by:

When door closers are installed on doors, they are calibrated by technicians to be in keeping with ADA regulations and to close in a desired manner. Time, combined with normal wear and tear, can cause variation in the door closers’ performance. Door closers that are out of control and/or not within ADA specifications can be hazardous. To adjust door closers, technicians must manually adjust the control valves on the door closer. Technicians lack standardization and can make errors in the adjustment process. Our group will assemble a sensor package capable of measuring door performance and provide recommendations to technicians on how to adjust the valves.

Problem Statement

Door Closers require manual adjustment by technicians, whose lack of standardization can lead to errors. We will assemble a sensor package to measure door performance and provide recommendations to technicians.
