What made you decide to choose your specific major?

There were a lot of things that drew me to web programming and it had to do with previous interest in programming. I believe that I have always been interested in programming for a career.

What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?

In web programming, I’ve been able to learn a ton about front-end development as well as back-end development. You will also learn and use new tools that may not be directly applicable to your major, but you will ultimately find them to be useful and may even find some new interest. I like to think that these tools and technologies will make me a more well-rounded programmer.

What has been one of your favorite class projects?

Although I can’t choose just one, in my class projects I have had to create and animate original characters, create new product ideas with a focus on user-experience, create webpages, code small video games, and build original 3D models. And I have enjoyed doing all of them because of how open-ended they are.

What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?

My one piece of advice for both prospective students and new students is to be organized. Classes, assignments, studying, projects, lectures, and exams take up a lot of time and learning how to keep these organized in order to complete them on time is going to significantly improve your experience no matter the major you choose.
