What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?

I really enjoy how our classes are set up. 95% of our class work is team based and if we get an individual assignment, the professors really encourage us to help one another and work with each other.

What has been one of your favorite class projects?

My favorite class project was our Tech 120 project, the SMARTDESK. For the project we were given an industry to make an improvement in and ours was education.

What other activities are you involved in on campus?

BMEN, Black Student Union, Data mine Learning Community, Society Minority Managers

What was something unique about one of your summer internships? (if applicable)

My summer internship was very worthwhile, I was out on the floor working/interacting with other engineers and they really made sure I was involved in all the projects we were working on. I wasn’t going on Coffee and McDonald’s runs.

What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?

That team-based projects are what you’ll essentially be doing in the workforce, now that I know that I really felt like I could have worked on my teamwork skills earlier in High School.

What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?

I would say get off to a strong start with your schoolwork as a Freshman because that is when your work is typically the easiest and you want a strong GPA when you want to start applying for scholarships, internships, etc.

What made you decide to choose your specific major?

I really enjoy business and engineering so Industrial Engineering Technology really was a happy medium for me. I also enjoy the job the fast-paced working environment… It keeps you on your toes and everyday isn’t the same.
