I chose to go into Polytechnic for a more hands-on experience with learning. I've always learned best by experience and Mechanical Engineering Technology proved to be the best fit for me.

Mechanical Engineering Technology

What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?

All of the labs. It breaks up the lectures and we get to learn the processes that come into consideration when designing things.

What has been one of your favorite class projects?

One of my favorite class projects was in MET 144. We got to modify a manufacturing process to yield a better product.

What other activities are you involved in on campus?

I'm in Purdue FIRST Programs as well as Women in Technology.

What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?

Even though there are a lot of labs, the theory behind them may not come as easily as you think it will.

What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?

While choosing a lifetime career can be daunting, just try and focus on what you'd like to be doing five to 10 years from now and which field will help you get there.

What made you decide to choose your specific major?

I wanted a career that would put me in between design and the manufacturing processes. With Mechanical Engineering Technology, I have the ability to go between those two sectors throughout my career.
