What made you decide to choose your specific major?
When I was in high school, I decided to study engineering in the future. However, I could not choose which field I wanted to study because I like every part of engineering. One day, I heard about a mechatronics major and I knew this was what I wanted because it is a combination of mechanical, and electrical. Also, I like to do hand work more than theories, so that's why I chose Mechatronics Engineering Technology for my major. This can make me become a well-rounded person in the future.
What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?
The biggest thing that I like about my major program is I can take classes in MET and ECET. I have an interest in both fields and this is a benefit that I can take both side fields of classes. Lab class is also my favorite thing. The process of directly applying and learning what I have learned in the lecture through lab practice helps me better understand the field.
What has been one of your favorite class projects?
Not exactly a project, but I like the class that uses my engineering kit. Using this, I use DMM and an oscilloscope in the lab. Doing Arduino using my engineering kit is my favorite activity.
What other activities are you involved in on campus?
I'm a member of KUSA (Korean Undergraduate Student Association), and Elim (Korean Christian Fellowship). I often go to the meetings of WiT and Crafty Crochets.
What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?
You can get a job as an engineer even after completing an engineering technology degree.
What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?
Opportunity comes to those who work hard. To seize opportunities, you have to go out and seek them out yourself. Meeting new people by attending various events and organizations makes school life more enjoyable. The best way to make friends when you first enter school is to participate in BGR.
