What made you decide to choose your specific major?
I chose UX because it combines many of my interests: technology, psychology, and design into one. I also love working with others and enjoy the versatility the major offers. With a degree in UX design, you can do anything from creating intuitive mobile apps to designing a museum exhibit.
What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?
There are a lot of great things about UX! I would say the thing people appreciate most is the lack of exams - going into my junior year I've yet to take an exam in-person for any of my courses! However, I would say my favorite part is how the program is so tight-knit. Because each cohort has class together year after year, we can get very close. This makes such a big university feel much smaller.
What has been one of your favorite class projects?
It's hard to say what my favorite project has been, but one year I got to create my project brief and recruit a team for it. It was awesome because I was able to work on something I was truly interested in with people who had the same passion.
What other activities are you involved in on campus?
On campus, I'm involved in my sorority, Delta Gamma, a design fraternity, Alpha Theta Delta, women in technology, and pickleball club.
What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?
UX is super versatile. If you're not into web design, that's not a problem - there are many other routes you can take.
What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?
Don't be afraid to do something alone! I feel like in the past I missed out on a lot of opportunities because I didn't want to go alone, but now I know that doing something alone can turn out even better. I've met so many new people by getting myself out there in this way.
