What made you decide to choose your specific major?
I chose Construction Management because I have enjoyed building and designing ever since I was little. I also enjoy working with my hands and having hands-on learning experiences.
What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?
I like the hands-on experience in our program. In CM150, I was able to experience this when I built a model shed!
What has been one of your favorite class projects?
One of my favorite class projects was in CGT164 when we were given a set of requirements for an apartment and then had to build it in Revit. This reminded me of when I played Minecraft as a child and designed/built cities.
What other activities are you involved in on campus?
I am a part of Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) and Women in Construction Management (WICM). I was also an orientation leader for Boiler Gold Rush.
What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?
I wish I had known how much we learned about the basics of the construction industry within the first year. Starting with CM100, you start to learn all things construction ranging from history to specializations. You hit the ground running.
What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?
Make sure to reach out and build friendships in your classes. Construction management is a really social class and the students in your class will be with you until you graduate.
