Luke Thesier
Construction Management Technology (CM)

What made you decide to choose your specific major?

I chose CMT because I have always enjoyed working with my hands and being around any and all construction. As I got older, I was able to grow an appreciation for all of the work it takes for a project to come from paper and finish as the physical building.

What has been one of your favorite class projects?

My favorite project so far is something I am currently working on. As a BIM minor for our capstone class, we get to completely model a building on campus. We have a group of ten people working on the same project and at the end of the semester we will present our project to several people in the industry.

What other activities are you involved in on campus?

I am currently in Mechanical Contractors Association and the Director of Marketing and Recruitment for Steps to Leaps Students.

What was something unique about one of your summer internships?

Last summer I was able to take an entire section of our job site to take on myself. I was given the responsibility and trust to ensure that the section was on schedule and completed on time.

What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?

I wish someone had told me that everything would work itself out. I feel I spent too much time stressing on what I was going to get on an exam or in a class overall as an underclassman.

What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?

Don’t be afraid of your professors, they want you to succeed and will always give career or life advice if you ask them.
