Unmanned Aerial Systems (SATT)

What made you decide to choose your specific major?

I chose my major based on my personal interests, career goals, and academic strengths. The Unmanned Aerial Systems program at Purdue intrigued me as it was relatively new and offered unique opportunities.

What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?

One of my favorite aspects of the program is the hands-on experience during labs, where we get to fly expensive drones. It's much more engaging than just sitting in a classroom.

What has been one of your favorite class projects?

My favorite class project was creating a website documenting everything we completed in the semester along with projects from previous years to document all of our knowledge. It is a great way to display your skills to an employer or anyone interested.

What other activities are you involved in on campus?

I am a member of the rowing team (Purdue Crew) and a member of the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity.

What was something unique about one of your summer internships?

For my previous summer internship, I spent the summer traveling across the country which was a unique experience that gave me exposure to different things I wouldn’t have experienced in an office.

What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?

One thing I wish I had known when I was a freshman is that you can learn so much by using the school’s vast resources to complete your own projects. You aren’t forced to wait for the classes to teach it to you.

What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?

Purdue has so many opportunities for students, take advantage of them early on in your college career! Getting involved in student organizations starting in your first semester of college is a great way to meet new people and create connections.
