What made you decide to choose your specific major?
I’ve always had a passion for technology and wanted to pursue something that could make a real difference in the world. Electrical Engineering Technology seemed like the perfect fit for me because it combines my love for problem-solving with my desire to create sustainable solutions that benefit the environment. I’m excited to be part of the change I want to see!
What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?
One of the things I love most about my program is the incredible support from my professors. They’re not only knowledgeable but genuinely kind and always willing to help. I also really enjoy the help room, where I can collaborate with peers and get hands-on assistance with assignments and projects—it’s a great environment for learning!
What has been one of your favorite class projects?
A highlight for me was a project in my ECET 229 class where I got to work with a partner to create ADHL code and test it on a DE0 board. We designed a simulation of an ATM, complete with features like withdrawing and adding money. It was so rewarding to see our code come to life in a real-world application!
What other activities are you involved in on campus?
I’m actively involved in several organizations, including Kappa Delta Sorority, Society of Women Engineers, and Women in Technology. These groups not only offer great networking opportunities, but they also allow me to connect with other students who share my passions and values.
What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?
I wish someone had told me just how much hands-on experience I would get. From lab sessions to projects, the opportunity to apply what we learn in real-time has been invaluable. It’s one thing to study concepts, but it’s another to actually work with the technology!
What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?
My advice would be to stay true to yourself! Purdue is such a welcoming place, and there’s a community for everyone. Don’t be afraid to explore your interests and find the groups and activities that will help you grow—whether academically or personally.
