What made you decide to choose your specific major?

I chose my specific major because Purdue is ranked 6th in the nation according to United States News and World Report. Additionally, I felt a strong sense of community when coming on tours as a prospective and admitted student.

What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?

I love the hands on cybersecurity labs . We get to create entire networks of servers and manage them using the resources in the labs.

What has been one of your favorite class projects?

My favorite class project was my first lab in CNIT 242. We set up Active Directory Domain Services for a forest domain.

What other activities are you involved in on campus?

I am involved in Purdue Alumni Student Experience as a marketing board of directors member, a Blue team at Purdue member, an ethical hackers at Purdue member, and a Purdue Information Technology professionals member.

What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?

I wish someone had told me that cybersecurity can be frustrating, and a lot of times you get a lot of errors that you weren’t expecting and the computer just doesn’t seem to cooperate with you. However, that’s okay, it’s just part of the job!

What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?

One piece of advice I have for prospective Purdue students is sometimes life doesn’t make sense, sometimes college doesn’t make sense. Sometimes college can be surprising, it was for me, I thought it was going to be vastly different than high school, but in reality, it’s not too much of a change! College is not as scary as it seems and it’s quite a lot of fun!
