What made you decide to choose your specific major?
Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to be in the design or construction industry. I have always had a passion for creativity, design, space planning, and architecture. The DCI program is a perfect mix of both construction management and architecture.
What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?
The DCI program is a very hands-on experience, and with classes that are small in size, you are able to get one-on-one help from the professors. I also had the amazing opportunity to study abroad over Spring Break in Spain due to the DCI program.
What has been one of your favorite class projects?
My favorite class project is either designing a tiny home in CM 330 or modeling a bakery in CM 360.
What other activities are you involved in on campus?
I am involved in CHAARG, Women in Construction Management, Boiler Gold Rush, and I work at the CoRec.
What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?
One thing I wish I knew about my program of study is that you will not get into major-specific classes until about 3 semesters in. Before those classes, it's mostly general classes that don't necessarily pertain to the DCI program.
What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?
My biggest piece of advice for new students is to join a club that relates to your major/career field, and to join a club for your hobbies/interests. I have met a ton of people this way!
