Rich Sinks was determined about the path his life would take, even as a teenager. “I wanted to focus on aviation, and Purdue had the best program around,” he says. “I didn’t even apply to any other schools.”
Sinks started working at Rolls-Royce immediately after his graduation from Purdue and has had a nearly 30-year career there. His executive role is in the engine manufacturer’s civil aerospace division, where his team focuses on maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations. Sinks says his division “blends nuts, bolts and grease with cutting-edge, innovative techniques and technologies.”
During his time at Rolls-Royce, Sinks has worked extensively to implement multiple protocols to streamline and improve many of the company’s processes. His exemplary project management skills, grounded in thorough technical knowledge, have served Sinks well through roles with increasing national and international responsibilities.
Sinks credits Purdue with allowing him to make a career out of his calling. “My Purdue degree provided me with a tool set I have used to progress my 27-year career, from an entry-level position to an executive member of the MRO Services team.” When his team is on the lookout for a new member, Sinks knows where to find the best. “I recruit from Purdue because I understand the rigor the students have faced and I respect the ability they enter the workforce with.” In addition to recruiting, Sinks serves on the Purdue Technology Alumni Board and Aviation and Transportation Technology Industrial Advisory Board.
Sinks lives in Plainfield, Indiana, with his wife, Leanne. The couple has four children.
