“I witnessed the value of a Purdue degree within my family and I wanted to pursue the same path,” says Rodney Glass.
Glass is the chief operating officer and senior vice president at HID Global, a manufacturer of security and identification products, such as smart cards and readers based on radio frequency identification (RFID).
“Every day, my work helps the connected world be safe and reliable,” says Glass.
Glass credits the “practical nature of a Purdue degree” for his accomplishments. Professor Cynthia Tomovic’s individualized approach was especially instrumental.
“Dr. Tomovic would celebrate your successes but also be quick to challenge you and point out where improvements could be made.”
While at Purdue, Glass served as student body president, was active in his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, was involved in Student Government, and sat on the Board of Trustees to work with the Dean of Students Office. He continues to be involved with Purdue by speaking at the University and presenting to undergrad and graduate students.
“I feel strongly about giving back. My family has two scholarship endowments. One is with the School of Management and one is with the Polytechnic Institute. I would love to be more involved in teaching and continued learning for myself. I am passionate about cultivating people and increasing my own knowledge.”
Glass resides in Austin, Texas, and enjoys spending time with his significant other, Kimberly, and daughter, Ariana.
