What made you decide to choose your specific major?

In high school I underwent career counseling because I wasn’t sure what profession best fit my strengths. After personality tests and career assessments, HR was the obvious fit. After my own research, I fell in love with how much variety there was in HR and knew it was perfect for me.

What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?

I love that Purdue’s HRD program is at the polytechnic because of the resources and the technology focus. It’s so different from other programs that I looked into, and I know that it is going to set me up for success post-graduation.

What has been one of your favorite class projects?

Last semester I wrote a paper for my organizational leadership class and thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of writing it. It was a paper all about what leadership meant to me and I applied all the knowledge I had gained from the class and made it personal. It really opened my eyes to the type of leader I want to grow into.

What other activities are you involved in on campus?

Other than the ambassador program, I’m involved in Phi Mu. Greek life has allowed me to explore other opportunities on campus as well!

What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?

I didn’t expect for some of my classes to be so personalized and tailored to me. It’s one of my favorite things about my classes because the material is easier and more fun to learn when I can see how it applies to me specifically.

What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?

A piece of advice I would give is to try new things and get outside of your comfort zone! Also that it’s okay to fail and that when one door closes, another one opens.
