What is Core Training (CTI)?
Core Training is an intensive program intended to give you an overview of the PLTW course you will be teaching at your school. Class meets from 8AM to 5PM each day (no weekends, with the exception of GTT ME), with an hour for lunch. Attendance is required at ALL sessions. During the training, participants complete a portfolio of work in order to be certified to teach the course back in their local schools.

How do I register for Core Training?
Please see detailed instructions under the "Registration" page. Registration for Readiness Training and Core Training will open in March, 2016.

What should I bring?
You should bring a laptop, a scientific calculator, a USB memory stick, and a 10-15 foot Ethernet cable. An external mouse for your laptop is highly suggested. The instructor(s) for your class may contact you prior to training about specific needs for your class.

What laptop will I need for Core Training?
You are required to bring a laptop to Core Training. You MUST have administrative privileges, on this laptop so that you may add both hardware and software.

These specifications are a minimum – for new purchases it is recommended that you buy as fast a machine with as much memory as possible to prevent obsolescence in the near future.

May I use the Core Training as professional growth points to renew my Indiana teacher's license?

How do I get to Core Training at Purdue?
Please use the interactive Purdue Visitors Information page for detailed driving instructions on how to get to Purdue University-West Lafayette from where you are. 

Opening day (June 19 and July 10) activities are held at Stewart Center, 128 Memorial Mall, West Lafayette, IN 47907. 

Construction Alert!: The City of West Lafayette has advised us that making our own road construction maps would be a waste of time and money as construction in the area is going to change daily. For the River Road detour, they recommend that you go to http://www.riverroadwl.com/ for the River Road changes/detours. There is a map page that they’ll continue to update as things change. As work continues on the State Street project, you should also use http://statestreetwl.com/ for the changes on State Street in WL.

You should also subscribe to Nixle Alerts: http://www.nixle.com/ on your smart phones by text or email, as they will alert you on that day of any changes, as well as accidents or other delays.

Where do I park for Core Training?

Parking for OPENING SESSIONS (June 19 & July 10) only is in Grant Street Visitors Garage, 120 N. Grant Street, West Lafayette, IN 47907. Other parking areas and pass distribution will be discussed at the opening sessions.

Rental car, Shuttle, and Airport information:

May my family stay with me during Core Training?
You will be very busy during core training, so we do not encourage family visitation except over the weekend. Any additional charges required by the hotel for additional family members will be the responsibility of the participant. We do not provide meals for family members.
