The Intelligent Process Control Cart (IPCC) project, in collaboration with Purdue Polytechnic School of Engineering Technology (SoET) Smart Manufacturing Lab, Endress + Hauser, and Rockwell Automation, seeks to create a teaching tool for students. By simulating real-world process flow systems and integrating advanced sensors as well as AI, the IPCC aims to provide students with hands-on experience in process automation and data-driven decision-making. This would make it possible for different classes to utilize the IPCC for lab sessions. To enable this, we will be utilizing ChatGPT as an AI Tool that guides the user throughout the entire process. The IPCC itself is a cart designed to simulate a process flow system. The final design’s goal is to create a robust, error-tolerant learning environment where students can experiment, develop, and learn process automation and data acquisition.
Furthermore, this project serves as an inspiration for Endress+Hauser to enhance their customer support processes by leveraging AI technology. Drawing from our work with ChatGPT and the learning cart, the AI model offers potential applications in troubleshooting customer issues more effectively, providing quicker, data-driven insights to resolve technical problems.
