It’s More Than a Degree – It’s Life Changing!
Each year in May ProSTAR hosts an annual graduation celebration for the many graduates of our academic programs. It is a tremendously well received event. Students who plan to walk for graduation typically bring their parents, spouses, children and meaningful others. What an amazing celebration. The event is highly charged, everyone is excited, happy and smiling. In many cases there are tears of joy, from both students and their loved ones.
There are a number of reasons for this heartfelt moment, not the least of which is the realization that earning a Master’s degree from Purdue University is an extremely noteworthy accomplishment. Purdue University is preeminent in all of the normal statistics attendant to a tier 1 very high research institution such as Purdue University:
In the United States, there are ~1620 degree granting public universities; Purdue is ranked 18th.
In the United States, there are ~4582 public and private universities; Purdue is ranked 56th.
In the world, there are ~35,000 colleges and universities; Purdue is ranked 77th.
In addition to our national and international rankings, our graduates also become part of the 8.2% of the U.S. population with M.S. degrees.
Above highlights some of the more quantitative benefits, but there are many more. Purdue graduates have become better people – more flexible, skilled, confident, and more valuable to their employers, our Nation and our world community.
Perhaps the greatest realization I have come to appreciate is that once you’ve graduated from Purdue University, you are not alone, and will never be alone again. You are part of a proud and successful Purdue family. A family that recognizes, values and supports each of its own. No matter where you go in the world, you will be recognized as having a high quality education from a preeminent world-class university.
We wish each of our graduates the very best personally and professionally. The often heard phrase “…once a Boilermaker, always a Boilermaker…” is true!
