Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Advocacy Working Groups

Each of the working groups listed below is part of a crucial effort to improve our college. For more information on a particular working group, or to volunteer to join a working group, use the email address provided for each group.

Curriculum 

This group focuses on engaging faculty, staff and students in conversation and work that will advance IDEA efforts throughout the curriculum for all undergraduate and graduate students, including both in-person and online learning.  For more information, contact Carrie Berger or Elizabeth Barajas. Members of this working group include Nancy Denton, Tahir Khan, Chien-Tsung Lu, Cyndi Lynch, Tami Lynch and John Sheffield.

Engagement

This group is charged with the development and oversight of efforts that connect the Polytechnic to diverse communities in ways that support our core values of equity and inclusion. Activities focus on partnering within the college and across our local, national and regional communities. For more information, contact Ida Ngambeki or Brooke Huntington. Institutional Change

This group focuses on three areas: equity in the evaluation of promotion and tenure. documents; advancing the success of people of color; and equity in student assessment. For more information, contact Abrar Hammoud or Pat Connolly. Members of this working group include Cathy Pullings, Shari Schrader and Anthony Sparkling.

Research

This group is charged with the development and oversight of research-focused activities in three categories: building and disseminating a detailed picture of the state of IDEA in the Polytechnic; elevating diversity, inclusion and equity into a core pillar of all research performed through the college; and expanding the diversity of the Purdue-affiliated research community. Diversity Portal

This group develops and maintains IDEA's digital presence and supports the events and opportunities developed by other working groups. For more information, contact Brooke Huntington, Katherine Prochno or Melissa Templeton. Members of this working group include April Cheung, Misty Clugh, Ryne Kerchner, John O'Malley and Zach Rodimel.

Learning, Reflection & Growth

This group aims to engage faculty, staff and students in conversation and work that will support IDEA learning and individual growth, and works to facilitate and promote learning opportunities to interested stakeholders that will allow for a shared understanding of the issues and a safe space for dialogue.
