Mesut Akdere, associate professor of human resource development and the director of Purdue Polytechnic Leadership Academy at Purdue University, has been reappointed to the Board of Examiners of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The Baldrige Performance Excellence Program offers criteria, assessments, training and other tools for organizational improvement. The program also oversees the nation’s only federal award for performance excellence.
“My empirical research related to performance improvement has been instrumental in my work with the Baldrige program,” said Akdere.
Akdere, who serves as associate program head in the Department of Technology Leadership & Innovation, head of the new human resource development major, and faculty member in the organizational leadership major, has published extensively about leadership in the context of human resource development.
Akdere was initially appointed to the Board in 2016 and will start his next term in June.
