Alex Coleman, 2013 Distinguished Technology Alumnus

Alex Coleman is vice president for public sector, government, public safety, and education markets for Verizon Enterprise Solutions. He earned his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering technology from Purdue in 1986.

His College of Technology degree afforded Coleman the opportunity to learn how to apply all of the elements of critical thinking (math, science and business) into solving business and technology problems for Verizon and its customers. This ability has allowed Coleman to compete effectively for managerial and executive-level positions throughout his 26-year career.

At Verizon, Coleman is tasked with analyzing the market to determine how Verizon products and services best fit its customers. Coleman helps to form partnerships and business alliances that assist customers in the use of technology to solve day-to-day business problems. He manages a national sales team that is required to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales and revenue objectives. Coleman annually addresses business analysts and technology publications about Verizon’s position in the market and how it is developing innovative solutions to assist government customers.

Over the last 15 years, he has had the opportunity to serve as Verizon’s executive sponsor for Purdue with frequent visits to campus in an effort to further the business relationship between the University and Verizon.
