1990s

Bradford Sims (BCM ’90, PhD EDU’99), Ormond Beach, FL, was named chancellor of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide. He joined the university in 2013 after serving as dean of the College of Technology at Indiana State University for four years.

Col. Michael Kazmierzak (BCM ’92), Covington, LA, was promoted by the Louisiana National Guard to the rank of colonel. He has served on various assignments, was severely wounded by a car bomb in Baghdad, and received two Meritorious Service Medals, two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Meritorious Unit commendation, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He now resides in Louisiana with his wife, Emily Shea (Burke); two daughters; and a son.

2000s

William Johnson (MET ’07), Lafayette, IN, was awarded the 2014 Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship at IUPUI to become an engineering technology teacher in Indiana.

Emily Smalley (OLS ’01) and husband, Nick Smalley, Royal Oak, MI, welcomed their daughter, Chelsea Elizabeth, to their family on Jan. 6.

Adam Quickstad (OLS ’12) and Courtney Webb (HHS’13), Indianapolis, IN, got engaged on Jan. 17. Adam proposed to Courtney on the ice rink at Millennium Park in Chicago with their families watching close by. The couple has been dating for a little over three years and is eagerly planning their wedding for the fall of 2016.
