Communications Office offers personalized posters to admitted students

Recruitment communications for Fall 2016 incoming freshmen have been steady since last May.

Since the end of October, the college has also been in the admit phase of communications with the start of rolling admissions. For fall 2016, one piece of print communication sent to all domestic students admitted into the Polytechnic is the “TECHIES through TIME” poster.

Jenna Robinson and the Techies through Time poster"We are learning more and more that today's students want things that are personalized and fun. I incorporated the funky illustrations, bright colors, and hashtags so that we, as a college, can relate to them on a more personal level," said Jenna Robinson, digital marketing assistant. "There has to be a sense of trust, friendship even, between us and these students before they take the next step in accepting their offers."

Admitted students receive the poster to their listed home address approximately 14 days after their admit date. There are several special features to the poster including:

  • The student's name is listed under the 2020 point on the timeline: "Jane Doe graduates from Purdue University, ready to move the world forward. *checks in at graduation as #ImATechie*”
  • Highlighted sketch graphics represent disciplines of all six Polytechnic academic schools and departments.

All Polytechnic faculty and staff on the West Lafayette campus will receive the same poster with an adjusted 2020 entry: “John Doe receives praise from the Class of 2020 for helping move the world forward. #StudentsFirst”.

Recipients are encouraged to hang the poster in their workspace, classrooms and/or labs.
