FSF’s Burin shares aviation safety info with student chapter

James Burin, director of technical programs at Flight Safety Foundation (FSF), spoke to Purdue aviation students and local aviation enthusiasts Oct. 11.

Burin discussed global aviation safety performance, current industry safety and economic trends, as well as about collaborative research programs between the FSF  student chapter at Purdue and industry

Burin’s duties at FSF include organizing and overseeing safety committees and managing safety-related conferences and research. He is the chairman of the foundation’s  approach and landing accident reduction (ALAR) effort and led the foundation’s international efforts to address Smoke-Fire-Fumes, Functional Check Flights, Unreliable Airspeed, and Runway Safety.

Purdue’s Department of Aviation Technology chartered the first student Flight Safety Foundation group during Spring 2012.
